Airfone unveils six new mobile phones


Airfone has unveiled 6 new mobile phones - AF 100, AF111, AF14, AF18, AF33 and AF12. AF33 and AF12 are Basic phones and AF 100, AF111, AF14, AF18 and AF33 are launched under Airfone's Music Mania Series. Airfone claims that Music mania phone series is based on music chipset which produce high quality sound and the ear earphone are acoustically designed to attain a certain level of noise cancellation hence enhancing the user experience.

Zen Mobile launches its first slider phone-S10


Zen Mobile expanded its portfolio of Mobile Handsets by launching its first slider phone S10. It comes in metallic body. This Dual SIM (GSM + GSM ) mobile has a 2.2" display screen and 2MP camera with flash. Other features of S10 includes MP4/MP3 Player, FM Radio, expandable memory upto 4GB. Zen S10 is priced at Rs. 4999.

Vodafone Launches Data Packages For International Roaming


This Holiday season, Vodafone India’s post paid GSM customers traveling to international destinations can enjoy data services at most affordable rates through Vodafone Daily and Monthly Data Usage Packages.

Through these Daily and Monthly Data Packs customers can pay a nominal daily rental and save up to 77% on their data usage while on international roaming.

The Daily Data Usage Packages, priced between Rs 299 to Rs 1299, provide customers up to 10 MB data usage and thereafter, customers can enjoy discounted rates and save upto 27% on subsequent data usage.

Additionally, the Monthly Data Usage Packages, priced between Rs 1999 to Rs 3999, provide customers up to 30 MB data usage and thereafter, customers can save upto 30% on subsequent data usage.

April 2010 Adds 11.18 Million New GSM Subscribers in India


Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has released the GSM subscriber base for April 2010 and, quite expectantly, new additions continue at an average growth rate. The number of new GSM subscribers being added in April month 11.18 million as compared to at a monthly growth rate of 2.65%.

Among the GSM Mobile Service Operators, Vodafone added 2.9mn new users in April, taking its total base to 103.8mn while market leader and largest GSM operator Bharti Airtel record the highest new additions of 3 million subscribers by growth rate of 2.35, its total base raised to 130.6mn.

Idea Cellular added 1.5mn new customers, boosting its subscriber base to 65.3mn, while Aircel increased its base by over 1.6mn to 38.5mn at highest growth rate from other incumbents. State operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 1.2mn new customers which are approx 50% less from last month, taking its reach to 64.7mn.

India 3G Spectrum Bid Results: What Operators Said


At the closer of the India’s 3G auctions, most of bidders including the biggies Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Communications emerging winners for the 3G airwaves. While latest entrant in GSM arena Videocon Telecommunications Ltd and Etisalat DB were unable to win a single circle.

The GSM biggies Vodafone Essar, Bharti Airtel and dual technology operator Reliance Communications (Rcom) bagged the lucrative Delhi and Mumbai circles for a whopping Rs.3316.93 crore & Rs 3247.07 crore respectively and hope to get good 3G subscriber base initially with the commercial launch in both circles.

India’s largest GSM service provider Bharti Airtel, which had pan-India 3G ambitions, had to settle for just for 13 telecom circles along with Reliance Communications and Aircel. The company said in a statement “We would like to point out that the auction format and severe spectrum shortage along with ensuing policy uncertainty, drove the prices beyond reasonable levels. As a result, we could not achieve our objective of pan India 3G.

BSNL Introduces Bouquet of 3G STVs, Local Call to Any Network 30p

The Unlimited Own Net Calling Pack of Rs.30 allows BSNL 3G Prepaid customers to make unlimited Local and STD calls to any BSNL mobile and Land line numbers anywhere in India for One Day.

Aircel GSM Mobile Services in Haryana


India’s 5th largest GSM service provider AIRCEL has rolls out its 2.5G EDGE enabled GSM Mobile Services in Haryana telecom circle.

However according to the official statement from the company, still the services are commercially not launched in Haryana, though they have already listed the tariff plan details and customer care numbers on their official website and Prepaid connections are also available in Yamuna Nagar and Ambala of Harayana circle.

We also spoke with Ms. Shalini Sethi Head- Corporate Communications, Aircel Limited and according to her ”Aircel GSM services is commercially not launched yet, the testing of GSM network and services are going on. She also said that company is all set to launch GSM services in Haryana and some other telecom circles but till today its not officially launched in Haryana circle.

Aircel has its GSM services in 18 telecom circles and Haryana will be 19th circle on the Company’s Pan India operation. Aircel will become the 8th GSM operators in the circle. The Customer care number for Aircel Haryana is 98020-12345 and 121 from Aircel.
