Bharti Airtel Gujarat circle customers registering for e-bill has gone up from 5% last year to 30% in the current year. Bharti Airtel through many attractive initiatives has been constantly encouraging more paper bill customers to opt for e-billing and e-transactions.

Vodafone Launches 3G ready USB stick at Rs.1950
Vodafone Essar, one of India’s leading GSM mobile service operator, today announced the launch of 3G Ready USB stick (Data Card) for its 2G Data service customers in Kolkata telecom circle priced at Rs 1950.
The 3G ready device comes with a 2 year replacement warranty. This pricing is in keeping with Vodafone’s constant endeavor to increase affordability of mobile Internet among customers.
The Vodafone 3G ready USB stick enables customers to stay connected on-the-go. Prepaid users can recharge with the Vodafone Mobile Connect packs, whereas postpaid customers can avail the one year advance rental plans.

India’s BWA Auction Ends, Infotel is Pan-India Winner
India’s auction for Auction for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) licence ended today with bids for pan-India licence touching Rs 12,850 crore with the government clocking a total revenue of Rs.38,543.31 crore.
According to the provisional results announced by Department of Telecommunications (DoT) telecom biggies Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular Tata Communication and Reliance Wimax Ltd have opted out of the race. The Infotel Broadband Services has won bid for all the 22 circles while Aircel won 8, Bharti Airtel and Qualcomm won in 4 circles, Tikona in 5 and Augere 1 circle.
The State operators BSNL and MTNL, which have already been been given spectrum, ahead of the private players, will have to pay the equivalent of the winning bid in each

Majority of the Indian Consumers still Prefer Buying a Low Cost Handset
Majority of the Indian Consumers still Prefer Buying a Low Cost Mobile Handset. This is what revealed by a survey conducted by MediaTek India, a semiconductor company. The survey was carried out over a sample size of 1000 people in Metros and about 300 shopkeepers. It consisted of a mixed group of people belonging to the middle and low income groups including young people and students. About 50% of the users interviewed still tend to buy a handset in the Rs.1500 – Rs. 2000 range with basic functionalities. This is similar to an earlier survey carried out by MediaTek in rural India, where 55% of the rural users too buy a low cost phone based on the recommendations of peers, friends, family etc.

Nokia Launches Mobile Money Services in Pune and Chandigarh
Nokia, a global leader in the mobile telecommunications industry today commercially launched innovative mobile payments platform in Pune (Maharashtra) and Chandigarh to facilitate customer convenience and encourage financial inclusion in India.
The Nokia Money Services in association with Yes Bank will allow mobile phone users to transfer money to another person by using the person’s mobile phone number and also Top-up the prepaid card of any mobile services or pay postpaid mobile/land line and utility bills as well as cashless shopping.
The Nokia Money Service pilot project was announced in February in Pune for selected customers. After the successful test, now the services are commercially available to all Yes Bank and Nokia customers wherein they can pay for shopping and Utility bills through direct from their Nokia mobile phones.

Handcase Introduces Mobile Meta Search Mobile Application
The Handcase today announced the launch of new Meta search based mobile search engine called Gune.
Gune is a system of meta-search, ie he searches the other sites and generates a single page of results, optimized for small screen phones and smartphones.
