Nokia announced the launch of a new range of mobile applications and content tailored for the holy month of Ramadan.

The new range of Ramadan applications 2011 have now become available on Ovi Store, the updated mobile applications specifically developed for the Holy Month can now be downloaded on the compatible Nokia devices for free.

Some key applications include uQuran Micro reciter, ARY QTV and ARY Zauq. Other apps include Al Quran (Lectures by Dr. Israr ul Haq by Quran Academy), Qibla Touch, Namaz.me, Weekly Quran & Hadith, Lesson of the Day, Boyoot Allah and Manasik.

uQuran mobile app offers the full Quran in Uthmani Font with an easy to use user interface. It also offers verse by verse translation and recitation along with bookmarks. uQuran also has 100% Touch Screen support and is the only software of its kind offering full portrait and landscape viewing of the Quran for easy reading and understanding via mobile phone.

With QTV mobile application, you can download audio files of Quran recitation, download Hamds & Naats by famous reciters, view program schedules of QTV, view latest announcements from QTV and download Farman-e-ilahi, Ahadees-e-Nabwi, and Ringtones.

Zauq’s mobile app is an interface for viewers to get informed about the happenings on their favorite food channel via their favorite Nokia phone and at the same time be able to download amazing recipes to cook special Ramadan delicacies. With ARY ZAUQ mobile application, you can now get your favorite chef’s recipes right on your handset, and keep yourself updated with the programs schedule, new announcements and expert cooking tips. With this app the user gets to utilize the cooking timer for best quality meals.

Nokia India sets a national record certified by the Limca Book of Records 2012 for organizing the largest gathering of twins in India at a single venue.

‘Nokia’s Twins Day Out’, a first-of-its-kind festival organised to unveil Nokia’s new dual SIM phones Nokia C2-00 and Nokia X1-01 – saw the presence of 63 pairs of twins of different age groups under one roof on June 4, 2011 in New Delhi as earlier we shared on TelecomTalk. Nokia ran a digital and radio campaign for about four weeks inviting the twins in the city to launch the new Nokia dual SIM phones and become Nokia’s Brand Ambassadors for a day. The festival saw the presence of twins aged between 15 months to 48 years enjoying themselves as they participated in games and various fun activities organized by Nokia. The event was especially designed and themed around ‘the twin power’.

BlackBerry Smartphone Maker Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the availability of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) version 6 (BBM 6), which provides support for “BBM connected” apps, allowing users to easily interact with each other from within the BBM connected app.

BBM connected apps integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the app itself.

For example, with a BBM connected Game App, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and then chat with one another in Real Time while the Game is being played – without ever leaving the Game Applications.

Some of the additional functionality users can expect to see with BBM connected applications include the ability to:

Share app experiences with friends – When a user discovers a great new BBM connected app, they can instantly let their friends know about it. Users can simply select a BBM contact directly within the BBM connected app they are using.

Have a BBM chat within apps – Users can simply pull up their BBM contact list directly from within the BBM connected app and start chatting. For example, the functionality can enable everything from enhanced social game play to collaboration through productivity apps.

Discover apps through friends – Users can also discover new apps by viewing the list of apps that are posted to a BBM friend’s profile. They can also click on an app within the list, and instantly download it from BlackBerry App World.
